Scipio Covered Bridge

The Scipio Covered Bridge in Indiana was built way back in 1886 for a mere $600. Understandably, the rustic bridge was in need of a bit of a facelift. A proposed rehabilitation of the bridge was stuck in the planning stage for over a decade, but in the summer of 2015, the project was finally green-lighted.

The restoration involved roof replacement, patching and painting, siding replacement, deck replacement, portal restoration, stone abutment repairs, and other needed structural repairs.

Portland Bolt was selected to provide the bolts needed for the project. Hardware required for the project included custom square head bolts, carriage bolts, and plate washers.

Portland Bolt has supplied bolts for several covered bridge projects throughout the country. More often than not, bolts for these projects are required to be domestically produced, and our ability to manufacture headed bolts, along with our in-house hot-dip galvanizing make us an excellent supplier for these projects.
