Domestic Timber Connectors
When Cleveland Steel Specialty Company ceased operations in 2020, it created a void for domestic timber connectors……until now! Portland Bolt has recently introduced the only line of domestically manufactured shear plate and split ring timber connectors.
Domestic Split Rings
Split ring wood connectors transmit loads between two wood members. They are placed in precut grooves made with special grooving tools. The tongue and groove “split” in the ring permits simultaneous bearing of the inner surface of the ring against the core left in grooving and the outer face of the ring against the outer wall of the groove.
Domestic Shear Plates
The shear plate wood connector is intended primarily for wood-to-steel or wood-to-wood connections in demountable structures when used in pairs. Shear plates spread the load and reduce the number of bolts required. Special dapping tools are used to create the custom grooves in which the shear plates are inserted.
Innovation Hills Trail Cable Pedestrian Bridge
Innovation Hills Trail, located in Innovation Hills Park, is a nature park located in Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA. It offers a range of outdoor recreational opportunities and a natural retreat within an urban setting.
Portland Bolt provided various domestic construction materials to aid in the construction of this bridge including closed eye bolts, custom square plates, structural bolts, lag screws, anchor rods, and corresponding hardware. The material provided totaled over 4,800 lbs. These items will be vital in the construction and longevity of the bridge.
