Sellwood Bridge

In a city known as “Bridgetown” due to the eight bridges entering downtown and immediately adjacent areas, the Sellwood Bridge was considered the least safe bridge in Portland, Oregon. In 2013, new construction began on a replacement bridge over the Willamette River.

Portland Bolt was chosen as the manufacturer of the large anchor rods used in the construction of the new Sellwood Bridge. These rods are 4” diameter by 20’ and 20’-7” in length. They required extensive thread lengths on both ends of the rods.

Due to the critical nature of these rods in the design, special full size testing was required on the finished rods. Portland Bolt was able to supply the rods as needed passing all of the rigid testing required.
